Uchana Kalan, April 25

Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu stopped at the Uchana Kalan railway station for 10 minutes, on his way to Rohtak from Narwana today, in a special train.

Prabhu received a memorandum from local BJP MLA Prem Lata Singh, but failed to address the gathering as commotion ensued during his visit, despite the presence of adequate security.

Rural Development Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh and his wife MLA Prem Lata Singh accompanied the Railways Minister from Rohtak in the train.

The minister reached Uchana Kalan railway station at 3.15pm, an hour later than scheduled at 2.10pm. Though he stopped at the station for only 10 minutes, he could not address the public, courtesy a faulty public announcement system and the locals jostling for Prabhu’s attention.

The local Foodgrain Dealers Welfare Association from the Uchana Kalan grain market erected a tent on platform no. 1; they also made sitting arrangements for all VIP guests as the state police, railway police and Railway Protection Force stood nearby.

When the Railway Minister’s train arrived at the station, everyone stood up to meet Chaudhary Birender Singh, his wife BJP MLA Prem Lata Singh and Suresh Prabhu.

Despite Birender’s repeated requests asking the public to settle down, the foodgrain dealers and farmers refused to pay heed. At this point, the Railway Minister stood up, accepted the memorandum from Uchana BJP MLA Prem Lata Singh and assured her that he would look into the demands and left in the waiting train.
