The Railways authorities have started a probe into the fire in the Rohtak-Rewari passenger train to find out its technical cause.

An 11-member team of railways officials reached the Jhajjar Railway Station yesterday and took the burnt bogie to Delhi for forensic investigation, after collecting vital information regarding the incident.

Sources said the team would also question railways officials posted at Jhajjar station and the train staff besides the passengers on board at the time of incident. The team would also estimate the loss incurred due to the fire.

The last bogie of the train had caught fire at the Jhajjar Railway Station on Thursday night when it was ready to leave for Rewari. The train guard noticed the blaze and immediately informed senior officials who called the fire tenders which put out the flames. Three sadhus were present in the bogie when the incident took place. They were found drunk.

“The fire incident is being probed by a team of higher railways officials based at Delhi. The team will investigate all aspects pertaining to the incident to ascertain the exact cause behind the fire,” said Bharat Lal Meena, Station Master, Jhajjar.
