Lodged in Sunaria Jail at Rohtak for rape of his two former sadhavis, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh may have to wait for some time more before he could meet his family, as the Sirsa police on Monday asked the jail authorities to get their antecedents verified from Rajasthan too.

Asked by the jail authorities to verify the antecedents of the list of 10 people Ram Rahim had given to them, the Sirsa Police on Monday reverted telling the Jail Superintendent to get the crime record of these people verified from Sri Ganganagar too, since these people live in Rajasthan too.

Sources have informed that the Jail Superintendent of Sunaria Jail had sent a list of 10 people submitted to him by Ram Rahim Singh whom he wanted to meet as per the provisions of the jail manual.

The list included Ram Rahim’s mother Naseeb Kaur, son Jasmeet Singh Insan, daughter-in-law Husanmeet Kaur Insan, two daughters Charanpreet Kaur Insan and Amarpreet Kaur Insan, sons-in-law Shan-e-Meet and Ruhe-e-Meet, adopted daughter Honeypreet, Dera chairperson Vipassana Insan and a dera functionary Dan Singh who looks after his legal matters.

Sources said while the Jail authorities had sent the list to Sirsa SP office by the end of August, the police on Monday reverted to the Jail Superintendent with their report and a note that they should get the antecedents verified from Sri Ganganagar too.

“The Dera chief’s family members do not live in Sirsa alone. They live in Ram Rahim’s ancestral village Gurusar Modia too. After the conviction, they are learnt to be regularly living there. Hence, no character verification will be considered complete unless the jail authorities get their antecedents verified from Sri Ganganagar police too,” said the sources in Sirsa police.

Meanwhile, the dera authorities have so far deposited 33 licensed firearms with the police in response to the orders issued by the authorities asking people to deposit their licensed weapons with the police stations concerned.

The firearms, according to police, include revolvers, pistols, guns and rifles.
