A local court on Tuesday acquitted self-styled godman Rampal and three others in a property fraud case registered in 2006. They were let off because of lack of evidence.
Rampal, who is lodged in Hisar jail, appeared before the court through videoconferencing.
The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Harish Goyal acquitted the four persons and convicted three others named in the case. The quantum of punishment will be announced on May 7.
The matter pertains to the registration of nearly 3.5 acres in the name of Bandi-Chhod Bhakti-Mukti Trust which ran the Satlok Ashram at Karontha village in the district.
Kamla Devi, who was a co-owner of the property, had alleged the land had been registered in the name of the trust/ashram fraudulently by producing some other woman in her name.
An FIR was registered against nine persons, including Rampal, Rajender, Ravinder Dhaka, Satyadev, Krishan Nambardar, Rubina, Krishna, Rajender and one other person in the matter on the woman’s complaint.
The court acquitted Rampal, Rajender, Ravinder Dhaka and Krishan Nambardar, and held Rubina, Krishna and Rajender guilty.
