Satlok Ashram head Rampal was produced in a Rohtak court amidst tight security here today. The case in which he was produced pertains to a violent clash over Satlok Ashram in Karontha village of the district in which one person was killed and several others were injured in 2006.
Rampal was brought to Rohtak from Hisar jail on production warrants.
District and Sessions Judge Sushil Kumar Gupta fixed January 12 as the next date of hearing in the case. Of the 38 persons accused in the case, 31 appeared in the court while warrants have been issued to the remaining seven.
A violent clash had taken place between Rampal’s followers and supporters of the Arya Samaj at Karontha village in Rohtak district on July 12, 2006. A youth, Sonu, was killed in the clash.
Following the clash, Rampal and a number of his supporters were arrested on charges of murder and under other sections of the IPC. Rampal also remained in jail in connection with the case for nearly two years.
After being released from jail in 2008, he shifted his base to Barwala in Hisar district where he was recently arrested.
