Rohtak, April 23

State Congress leaders are making all-out efforts to put up a good show at the ‘Jan Aakrosh Rally’ scheduled to be held on April 29 in New Delhi. Party president Rahul Gandhi will address the rally.

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Tanwar is touring the state to mobilise support for the rally, while other party leaders are putting up a united face to ensure the rally’s success.

A meeting of party leaders has been called at the Delhi residence of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to finalise the preparations for the event.

In a press statement issued here on Monday, Congress spokesman Krishan Murti Hooda said the former Chief Minister, who is admitted to AIIMS, was likely to attend the meeting after obtaining permission from doctors.

Former Home Minister Subhash Batra told the media here there was no factionalism in the Congress and all leaders were trying to rally’s success.

“The BJP government has failed to fulfil the promises made to the people. RSS men are calling the shots in all government offices and the people are fed up with the functioning of the saffron rule at the Centre as well as in the state,” Batra said.

He said the Congress leadership had asked Haryana leaders to bring 50,000 people to the rally. “We will ensure 1 lakh people from the state attend the rally.”

Haryana women’s Congress president Sumitra Chauhan claimed that at least 10,000 women from all over the state would participate in the rally, of which 1,000 would be from Rohtak district alone.
