KARNAL: A sanitation worker of the contractor was allegedly manhandled by some persons when he was dumping garbage after lifting near Ramlila ground on Monday morning.

A sanitation worker of the contractor was allegedly manhandled by some persons when he was dumping garbage after lifting near Ramlila ground on Monday morning. The injured employee alleged that he was threatened by some of the striking sanitary workers.

Officials of the Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) expedited the cleanliness drive under police security.

Rajiv Mehta, Commissioner, KMC, has demanded police security for its employees during the cleanliness drive. “One worker of the contractor was manhandled by some persons, who was admitted to the KCGMCH. He is fine now and we have asked the SP to increase the police security during the drive,” said Mehta. — TNS
