Sarpanch, kin booked for embezzlement

SONEPAT: A case of alleged embezzlement of Rs 23.78 lakh has been registered against Neelam Devi, sarpanch of Sersa village, and Rajesh, her husband. The case was registered on the direction of SDM Nishant Yadav on the complaint from the gram sachiv.

A case of alleged embezzlement of Rs 23.78 lakh has been registered against Neelam Devi, sarpanch of Sersa village, and Rajesh, her husband. The case was registered on the direction of SDM Nishant Yadav on the complaint from the gram sachiv.

In his complaint, Sumit Kumar, gram sachiv, had submitted that the sarpanch and her husband had withdrawn Rs 23.78 lakh from the Sersa village branch of the Central Bank of India by using his fake signature on withdrawal forms. Rajesh, another village resident, had also lodged a complaint to the Sonepat SDM alleging the same.

Rambir Singh, IO, Kundli police station, said on the complaint of the gram sachiv, a case had been registered. The bank authorities and the BDPO office had been asked for the official record of the related case. — OC
