A local court today awarded life imprisonment to seven persons and seven-year jail to another person for the murder of property dealer Sanjay Sharma, who was a nephew of a personal advisor to former minister Savitri Jindal, here today.
Additional Sessions Judge Ajay Prashar pronounced the quantum of punishment to the eight of the 10 persons convicted in the case by the court on Monday. Those jailed for life are Amar Singh, Neeraj Punia, Dinesh Punia, Vikram, Vikas, Krishan and Dhirpal. The eighth accused, Vikash, was awarded seven-year imprisonment in the same case. The two acquitted are Satender Khatri and Sonu.
Three more persons, including two minors and gangster Vinod Panu, have been facing trial in the same case. While the case of the two minors is going on in the Juvenile Justice Court, Panu, who was absconding after the murder, was arrested by the Jhajjar police two days ago. He will be brought to Hisar on production warrant.
Sanjay Sharma, nephew of Jindal’s personal advisor Lalit Sharma, was shot dead at Pushpa Complex in the town on January 24, 2014. Complainant Krishan Sharma had alleged the involvement of 13 persons in the case.
