Six held for firing at toll plaza staff

KARNAL: The police have arrested six youths for allegedly firing at two employees and injuring them at the Bastara toll plaza here.

The police have arrested six youths for allegedly firing at two employees and injuring them at the Bastara toll plaza here. They have been identified as Pankaj, a resident of Gharaunda; Parth and Nishank, both residents of Kurukshetra; Ankit, a resident of Karnal; Simranjeet Singh, a resident of Safidon; and Harish, a resident of Tohana.

The police said that the youths have been booked under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act.

The injured, Ashish Kumar and Ramphal, were taken to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger.

One of the injured employees said that some youths came to the plaza in a car around 3 am on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. He asked them to pay the toll but they refused and started thrashing plaza employees. They informed the police but the youths opened fire at them in the presence of policemen.
