Six held for loot bid

SONEPAT: A joint team of the local Sadar police station and the CIA unit of the Sonepat police have busted a gang of six robbers for allegedly attempting to loot a van of the Union Bank of India containing Rs 70 lakh on the outskirts of the town on October 27.

A joint team of the local Sadar police station and the CIA unit of the Sonepat police have busted a gang of six robbers for allegedly attempting to loot a van of the Union Bank of India containing Rs 70 lakh on the outskirts of the town on October 27.

Naresh, Umesh, Pawan, Ram Dass, Sukhdev and Virender were today produced in court.

Naresh, Umesh, Ram Dass and Pawan were sent in judicial custody, whereas Virender and Sukhdev were sent in four-day police custody.

Inspector Indeever of the CIA said on October 27, the gang resorted to firing at a van of the bank while it was on the local Devru road. The guard fired at the gangsters and the driver drove away the van to a safe place.

Inspector Indeever said during interrogation, they confessed to have looted a car near Israna in Panipat district.
