Jhajjar, March 3

In order to prevent the misuse of Acts in the name of crime against women, the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) has asked the SPs of all districts to book case against those girls/women whose complaints are found false during investigation.

Moreover, the girls/women will also have to face police action if they backtrack from their allegations levelled against the accused in their complaints.

Suman Dahiya, vice-chairperson of the women’s commission, said here today that though the women’s commission had been set up for the security of women, it is not against men . “Our work is to ensure justice to the sufferer. During investigation, we have found several false cases lodged by girls/women. The SPs have been asked to take action against such girls/women under section 182,CrPC , to check the misuse of law,” said Suman Dahia.

She said a women helpline number 1091 had been launched by the Haryana Police at every district headquarters to provide immediate succour to women victims. The service was closely being monitored by the women commission, she added.

“We have asked the SPs to send weekly reports to the commission about complaints lodged on the helpline number so that further action could be taken as per nature of the complaints,” said Suman.

Dahia later visited the local polytechnic to investigate a complaint filed by a woman employee against the principal.
