Haryana’s Swarna Jayanti celebrations this year will witness the unveiling of the its film policy and the holding of a film festival during which at least one Haryanavi film will be screened in all villages.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the celebrations from Gurgaon on November 1 (Haryana Day) that will continue for a year till October 31, 2017.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said this while responding to a suggestion made by noted film producer and director Satish Kaushik that Haryanavi films and script should be promoted since the Haryanavi dialect was being used in a big way in films these days.
Khattar outlined his government’s plans for the golden jubilee celebrations while presiding over a meeting of the Haryana State Swarna Jayanti Samaroh panel in Panchkula today.
Besides Kaushik, several other prominent persons like Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune group of newspapers Harish Khare, former Election Commissioner SY Qureshi, humour poet Surinder Sharma and mountaineer Santosh Yadav were among those who attended the meeting which was called to invite suggestions for the celebrations.
Khattar said instructions had already been issued to the Department of Information, Public Relations and Languages to prepare a film policy at the earliest. He said the state government had already given incentives to award-winning Haryanavi films ‘Pagri’ and ‘Satrangi’ to encourage film-makers in Haryana.
Welcoming suggestions given by the panel members, Khattar said events to mark the golden jubilee would be organised by rising above petty politics .
Former Election Commissioner SY Qureshi suggested that the excavations at Rakhigarhi should be expedited as these would project Haryana’s heritage all over the world.
INLD leader Ashok Arora suggested that farmers should be given some incentive during the golden jubilee year.
