Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Tanwar got a rousing welcome by residents of Nigana and Sanghera villages under the Kalanaur Assembly constituency in the district today.

INLD leader Fakir Chand and his supporters were inducted into the Congress by Tanwar at a public meeting organised in Sanghera village.

A ‘havan’ was performed to ensure that Tanwar became the next Chief Minister. Village elders presented him with turbans and speakers referred to him as the would-be Chief Minister.

Addressing the gathering, Tanwar claimed that the BJP government had been unable to provide good governance and the people, who would teach it a lesson in the next elections.

He claimed that the INLD had lost its mass support base in the state and the Congress was the only viable option before the people for a stable and efficient government.

Later, talking to mediapersons, Tanwar maintained that Congress president Rahul Gandhi had directed him to strengthen the party organisation and network.

He remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had never touched issues like Doklam, rapes in Haryana and unemployment in his ‘Mann ki Baat’ programmes.

Tanwar termed the steps announced by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to check the rising cases of crime against women as “too little, too late”.
