State Congress president Ashok Tanwar today demanded the resignation of Health Minister Anil Vij over rising number of deaths due to dengue. “Vij has failed to check menace of dengue and he has no moral right to stay as Health Minister,” he said while interacting with mediapersons at Assandh in the district.

Earlier, Tanwar expressed his sympathy with state Congress general secretary Shamsher Singh Gogi over his father’s death at Thari village.

Tanwar said that Vij should clear as to why the department had failed to contain the spread of dengue in the state.

Taking a dig at the meeting of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal over the issue of curbing pollution, he said that the meeting was just an eyewash. The measures should have been taken by the government earlier, he said.

Tanwar said that it was wrong to blame farmers for polluting the environment as the state government had failed to provide equipment required for stubble management.
