Rohtak, January 13

Three persons died reportedly after consuming liquor at Singhpura village in Rohtak district on Saturday. The police have registered a case and started investigating the matter.

As per village residents, 35-year-old Naresh, a mason by profession, was a resident of Singhpura village. His cousin, 28-year-old Charandas of Hansi, had come to his house.

They left the house this morning. In the afternoon, Naresh’s family got to know that Naresh and Charandas were found lying on the outskirts of the village.

The family members rushed to the spot and took them to a hospital, where they were declared dead by the doctors.

In the meanwhile, another village resident Narender, 45, also died. All three deaths are being attributed to hooch.

Singhpura sarpanch Pramod said a liquor-vend had been opened near the village a few months ago. The deceased might have purchased liquor from this vend, though this is subject to confirmation.

SHO Sadar Manjit said the cause of deaths was yet to be ascertained.
