Kurukshetra, August 13
Three people died in a collision between a truck and a pick-up tempo on the National Highway 1 on Sunday morning.
The victims — identified as Sham Kumar (42), Narinder Kumar (36) and Naresh Kumar (32), all residents of Bairsal village in Karnal — were heading home with some iron rods they bought at Kurukshetra when their vehicle broke down, forcing them to call for another.
A truck collided into the pick-up vehicle as they were unloading it. Two people helping the victims were wounded in the accident.
The truck driver has been detained and his vehicle impounded.
