Karnal, November 29

The Karnal police have launched traffic mascots --- “traffic sardar” and “traffic tau” --- for spreading awareness about traffic rules among the masses.

Gurgaon’s “traffic tau” Virender Singh has been imparting training to two officers of the Karnal police.

ASI Gurdev Singh, the “traffic sardar” dressed in a white dhoti, blue jacket, red turban and carrying a lathi (cane), said it was an innovative way of educating people about the traffic rules.

“We will sensitise residents about women safety and urge the youth to respect women,” he said.

Virender Singh said it was his duty to train “traffic tau” and “traffic sardar” and he had been teaching them how to deliver speech and innovative ways to educate the people about traffic rules.
