Hisar, February 11
Tight security measures are being put in place by the authorities to prevent mobilisation of Punjab farmers in the bordering districts of Fatehabad, Sirsa and Jind districts ahead of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ call by some farmers’ organisations on February 13.
The traffic has been diverted via village routes in Sirsa and Fatehabad districts as the main roads have been completely sealed by erecting barricades and barbed wires. The authorities have also installed spikes on the road and even cut off the road in Fatehabad district in case the Punjab farmers managed to breach any of the security cordons. In Fatehabad district, all three main connecting roads — Tohana- Munak, Jakhal-Bulada and Ratia roads — have been completely blocked. The traffic has been diverted via village routes as there are several approach roads in the region, said a resident of Jakhal village who visited Punjab today.
However, two farmer leaders Labh Singh and Ajay Sidhani, who belong to the Pagri Sambhal Jatta and the SKM, which have stayed away from the ‘Delhi Chalo’, said they would help the Punjab farmers in breaching the barricades. Sirsa Deputy Commissioner Partha Gupta said to deal with any untoward situation the administration had set up temporary jail at Chaudhary Dalbir Singh Indoor Stadium, Sirsa, and Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, Sirsa Road, Dabwali, with immediate effect.
