Vidhan Sabha passes five Bills

1) Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas (Second Amendment) Billwas passed to amend the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975. The Act was amended to provide flexibility to the state to identify and prioritise external development works in view of the available financial resources.

2) Haryana Motor Vehicles Taxation Bill was passed to consolidate and regulate the law relating to levy of tax on motor vehicles in the state. The Bill aims to improve tax compliance by simplifying and rationalising the procedure of tax collection. It was necessitated because of changes in the Haryana Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 2013, and Punjab Passenger Goods Tax Act, 1952. It was considered necessary to repeal the Acts.

3) The University of Health Sciences, Karnal Bill, 2016 was passed to establish a University of Health Sciences in Karnal for the purposes of teaching and affiliating, ensuring proper instruction, training and research in modern systems of medicine and Indian systems of medicine and administration of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal.

Gharounda MLA Harvinder Kalyan thanked the government for setting up the university. Kalyan was instrumental in getting 128 acres allotted to the college in his native village Kutail near Karnal.

4) Haryana Tax on Luxuries (Amendment) Bill was passed to amend the Haryana Tax on Luxuries Act, 2007. The amendments would enable the Excise and Taxation Department to implement decisions by a committee on subordinate legislation for amendment to the rules framed under the Haryana Tax on Luxuries Act, 2007, and would facilitate implementation of e-governance under the provisions of the Act.

5) Haryana Legislative Assembly (Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members) Amendment Bill.
