Health Minister Anil Vij has once again taken up with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar the case of 50 students of the Goldfield Institute of Medical Sciences.

Vij today confirmed having taken up the matter with Khattar again after a file came to him with the remarks that the CM also concurred with his Additional Chief Secretary’s opinion that the students could be adjusted only in private colleges.

“I have taken up the issue of heavy fees of Rs13 lakh to Rs15 lakh charged by private medical colleges with the CM. These students got admission to Goldfield Institute of Medical Sciences and Research for an annual fees of Rs60,000 on the intervention of the Supreme Court. Now, if we send them to private colleges, who is going to foot the huge difference in the fee?” Vij has asked the CM.

Goldfield Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Ballabgarh (Faridabad), was shut earlier this year leaving 400-odd students in the lurch.

While 300 of them were adjusted in government and private colleges of the state as per the guidelines of the Punjab and Haryana High Court that said that those got admission on state level merit be admitted to government colleges and the rest getting admission under the management quota to private colleges.

As many as 100 students of the last batch (2014-15) had got admission on merit and were paying an annual fee of Rs60,000 on the directions of the Supreme Court. The ACS (Medical Education) had sent only 50 of them to government colleges, asking the rest to go to private colleges.
