The accumulation of waste water on a road in Dhand village of the district has become a major source of irritation for the residents.

Villagers said that earlier, excessive waste water used to flow into the Faral Minor. “Sometime back, the Irrigation Department had stopped the flow into the canal which has resulted in accumulation of waste water on the main Patwar Bhawan road. It has now turned into a pond,” they said.

“The stagnant water has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and stink has made the life of villagers miserable. The administration has failed to resolve the problem despite repeated reminders,” said Rajan, Deepu, Yogesh Sharma and Ankit, all resident of the village.

They expressed apprehension that if the problem was not resolved soon, dirty water would enter houses in nearby streets.

Sarpanch Pawan Kasana said that they had met the Block Development Officer and the Deputy Commissioner and apprised them of the problem, but nothing had happened so far. The villages said that they would be forced to resort to an agitation if the problem was not resolved soon.
