JHAJJAR: Exhorting the people to make yoga an integral part of their lives, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday announced to set up an aayog to promote yoga in the state.

Jhajjar, June 21

Exhorting the people to make yoga an integral part of their lives, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday announced to set up an aayog to promote yoga in the state. He said due to sincere efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 177 nations had declared June 21 as International Yoga Day and also celebrated it with full enthusiasm.

Addressing a gathering during the state-level function organised to mark the 4th International Yoga Day here, Khattar said, “Yoga not only leads to physical, mental and spiritual development, but also helpful in developing human personality. Hence, everyone should perform yoga on daily basis to stay stress-free. Even, one should try to make a day in a week as fun day.”

Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Minister Om Prakash Dhankar said good governance enhances the expression of culture and the BJP government was organising events like Geeta Jayanti and Yoga Day across the state.

Auto market stone laid

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laid the foundation stone of an auto market and workshop of the Haryana Roadways on the premises of the new bus stand in Bahadurgarh town. Both the projects would cost Rs 15.60 crore. He also inaugurated newly constructed building of the Beri Municipal Council.

Woman, kin create ruckus

A woman and her relatives from Sheria village created a ruckus during a seminar on yoga at the Government Nehru College here when they were not allowed to meet Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar who was present on the dais. Police personnel pushed them out of the seminar hall.

They came to complain against the police for not arresting an accused who sodomised an 11-year-old boy of their family. After the seminar, the CM called the woman and her relatives and listened to their grievances. Later, Khattar directed the SP to get medical examination of the victim done at the PGIMS, Rohtak, and take necessary action as per the medical report.

Lt Sachin Chahar honoured

During the seminar, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar felicitated Lt Sachin Chahar for winning the Sword of Honour during the passing-out parade at the IMA in Dehradun. He also honoured Gaurav Kadian for scaling Kanchenjunga and winners of Yoga Marathon – Manisha, Jyoti, Sagar, Ravi and Ankit. The CM also unveiled a news letter – Jhajjar Darpan – published by the district authorities.

Kurukshetra: Minister of State for Cooperation Manish Grover practiced yoga with nearly 2,000 people, including 14 students from seven foreign countries at Dronacharya Stadium.

On the occasion, the minister honoured Kim from Germany, Joleka from South Africa, Darina from Czech Republic, Chutsky from Sri Lanka, Mutia, Lija, Yudha and Nando from Indonesia, Sumona, Fahad and Riman from Bangladesh, and Ganesh and Chetry from Nepal.

Sonepat: Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain said that the yoga had to be developed as a habit by the people to take care of their physical and mental health.

“Yoga has now reached 177 countries, including 47 Muslim-dominated countries, in the world,” she said.

Stating that the state government was opening yogashalas in all villages, the minister stressed the need for promoting yoga among the youth so that they could shoulder their responsibilities in a better way in their life.

Kaithal: Thousands of people from all walks of life led by Minister of State for Public Health and Engineering Banwari Lal took part in Yoga Day function. The minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was instrumental in getting international recognition for this ancient health therapy.

Gurugram: Thousands of residents attended yoga sessions across the city. The district-level function was held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium where school students put up an impressive display. Universities like Starex and SGT too held big celebrations. Over 600 students and staff of SGT Medical College led by their Vice-Chancellor participated in the event.

Panipat: Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Bedi performed yoga along with MLA Mahipal Dhanda and officials of the district administration in Sector 25 here. The minister and people also enjoyed ‘Rahgiri-Mera Panipat, Fit Panipat’ after the yoga event at the same venue.

Karnal: Hundreds of enthusiasts participated in yoga event at grain market here. Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Karan Dev Kamboj presided over the function. People from all sections of society took part in the event. Kamboj exhorted the people to make yoga an essential part of their lives.

Meanwhile, commandos under the supervision of SP Newal Krishan Murari performed yoga. MLA Harvider Kalyan chaired a function in Gharaunda.

Yoga not related to any religion: Vij

Ambala: Health and Sports Minister Anil Vij has said yoga is a practice to keep your body healthy and it is not related to any religion. The minister practiced yoga along with over 3,000 people at the district-level Yoga Day function here. Vij said, “Yoga is not related to any religion or caste as more than 50 Muslim countries also celebrate the day.” Kharga Corps also celebrated the day. Over 3,500 Army personnel and their families participated in the event.
