SHIMLA: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday said the Central Government had approved three major projects worth Rs 4,378 crore for the hill state in the last five months.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday said the Central Government had approved three major projects worth Rs 4,378 crore for the hill state in the last five months.

Addressing mediapersons here, Thakur said these projects would be funded by the Asian Development Bank. “The Centre will bear 90 per cent of the cost while the state will have to contribute 10 per cent only,” he said.

“Several people were against my frequent visits to Delhi. However, it is for everyone to see that it has proved beneficial for the state as some mega projects have been approved by the Centre,” he said. 

Thakur said he had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend assistance for tourism promotion. A project was submitted which had also been approved by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

He said the Tourism Department had prepared detailed project reports for these projects by conducting surveys at 324 sites at various locations in the state.
