‘Walk the Track’ along Kalka rail line on May 12

SHIMLA: To create an awareness on protection, conservation and cleanliness of the Kalka-Shimla railway track (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a “Walk the Track” will be organised along the Kalka-Shimla railway track on May 12.

To create an awareness on protection, conservation and cleanliness of the Kalka-Shimla railway track (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a “Walk the Track” will be organised along the Kalka-Shimla railway track on May 12.

The initiative has been taken by the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (HPSLSA) under the guidance of Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court and Executive Chairman of the Authority Justice Sanjay Karol.

The drive will not only see cleaning, forestation and beautification of the heritage Kalka-Shimla railway track in a big way, but will also be useful in sensitising people about the protection and preservation of environment and ecology in general. As many as 5,000 people from all walks of life, especially students will participate in the cleanliness drive.A meeting between officers of HPSLSA and various stakeholders was held here on Wednesday to oversee preparations for the launch of the awareness drive.
