Dr Parkash Daroch, Chief Medical Officer, today claimed that 2,100 family planning surgeries were performed in Una district last year. He said in case of failed surgery, the victims could approach the official concerned for compensation ranging between Rs 30,000 to Rs 2 lakh under the Family Planning Compensation Scheme.
Dr Daroch in case of death of a patient, the next of kin were eligible for a compensation of Rs 2 lakh under the scheme.
He said the Health Department conducted outreach family planning camps every month wherein tubectomy and vasectomy were performed on women and men, respectively, adopting family planning measures voluntarily.
The CMO said a district-level Quality Assurance Committee on Family Planning had been constituted under the Deputy Commissioner to ensure qualitative delivery of medical services. He added that the District Attorney and the Mother and Child Welfare Programme Officer were also members of the committee besides medical experts from various disciplines. — OC
