Labour hostel gutted as fire breaks out at timber depot in Shimla

SHIMLA: A labour hostel was on Tuesday gutted in a fire near Auckland tunnel rendering over 200 “khans” from Jammu and Kashmir shelterless.

Shimla, April 25

A labour hostel was on Tuesday gutted in a fire near Auckland tunnel rendering over 200 “khans” from Jammu and Kashmir shelterless.

The fire broke out at a private timber depot at Lakkar Bazaar near the local bus stand.

Five fire tenders have reached the spot and are trying to douse the fire.  The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained

No loss of life has been reported. The fire erupted in the depot while the labourers were out on work.

Mayor Sanjay Chauhan and the DC are on the spot.
