25 tourists stranded at Saach Pass rescued

CHAMBA: All the 25 tourists stranded at Saach Pass on the Chamba-Killar high-way due to inclement weather are safe, said Chamba Deputy Commissioner Sudesh Mokhta here today.

All the 25 tourists stranded at Saach Pass on the Chamba-Killar high-way due to inclement weather are safe, said Chamba Deputy Commissioner Sudesh Mokhta here today.

The Deputy Commissioner said the tourists were crossing over the Saach Pass while travelling in four vehicles and 12 bikes.

On receiving information about the incident, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Pangi to rush to Saach Pass along with officials. A medical team was also sent from Churah subdivision to rescue the stranded persons.

The teams of officials acted swiftly and brought the stranded tourists safely to Bagotu on the Pangi side, the DC informed.

The Saach Pass is a 4,420-metre-high (14,500 ft) mountain pass in Chamba district.
