A special team of the Solan police seized 3,400 sedative tablets from two youths on the Mall Road last evening.
The police, while patrolling the place, got information that Jitesh Kumar and Rajesh Kumar, who live near a shopping mall, were selling banned tablets and capsules in the town.
Taking quick action after getting this information, the police team arrested Jitesh Kumar, a resident of Solan, and Rajesh Kumar (32), a resident of Bhoranj tehsil in Hamirpur district, and seized 3,400 sedative tablets of tapentadol .
“The case has been handed over to drugs inspector Solan for investigation. The police records show that cases are already registered against these accused at the Sadar police station in Solan under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,” said Superintendent of Police Solan Gaurav Singh.
He said with the district police tightening its noose around heroin peddlers, some youths were now turning to sedative capsules for sale here.
