3 held for illegal tree felling in Chamba

CHAMBA: Three persons were arrested today for illegal felling of deodar trees in the lower Jumhar forest near Chamba.

Chamba, January 14

Three persons were arrested today for illegal felling of deodar trees in the lower Jumhar forest near Chamba. The accused have been booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Indian Forest Act.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bir Bahadur said a complaint in this connection had been lodged on January 10 by Kamlesh Kumar, a forest guard. The DSP said logs of trees felled and the equipment use for cutting them had also been recovered. He said further inquiry was under way in the case.
