Dharamsala, June 10
Three youths, two from Hamirpur and one from Bilaspur, were killed when the car (HP-23A-4555) they were travelling in fell into a gorge on the Dharamsala-McLeodganj bypass this evening.
Five youths were coming from McLeodganj in the car when the accident took place. Sources said the driver lost control of the vehicle and the car hit a tree before rolling down the gorge.
While two youths died on the spot, another died in Dharamsala Zonal Hospital. Two seriously injured have been referred to Tanda medical college.
The deceased have been identified as Shashi of Kiarari village in Hamirpur district, Soni alias Rajesh of Badroh in Bamsan of Hamirpur and Ritesh Bhardwaj, the driver of the vehicle, of Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district.
Two seriously injured have been identified as Saurabh and Sonu, both from Hamirpur district.
The preliminary investigations revealed that overspeeding might be the reason for the accident. All deceased seemed to be students who had come to McLeodganj.
SP Kangra Sanjeev Gandhi said the case had been registered.
