MANDI: The 47th All-India Summer Football Tournament was inaugurated on Monday by Rugved Thakur, Deputy Commissioner, Mandi, and president of the organising committee at Paddal ground.

Mandi, June 11

The 47th All-India Summer Football Tournament was inaugurated on Monday by Rugved Thakur, Deputy Commissioner, Mandi, and president of the organising committee at Paddal ground.

On the occasion he said, “It is good that football is being promoted and I hope the tournament is a success.”

The opening match of the event was played between Chandigarh XI and BEG (Roorkee), in which Vikramjit of BEG (Roorkee), made the first goal in the 16th Minute, while second goal was made by Samnanda of Roorkee team and won the match.

Triumph FC (Mandi), Chandigarh XI, BEG (Roorkee), Punjab United (Jalandhar), Tamil Nadu Police, Khalsa Club (Amritsar), UBI (Mumbai), RBI (Mumbai), RPF (Kolkata) and Barsoon Young Man Football Club (Kolkata) are participating in the tournament.

On the occasion, Madan Kumar, SDM, Sadar, and Rejender Gupta, Secretary of the organising committee, and other dignitaries were also present.
