49 differently abled hired at Una job fair

UNA: A job fair for differently abled persons was organised at the National Career Service Center (NCSC) here today.

A job fair for differently abled persons was organised at the National Career Service Center (NCSC) here today. As many as 49 candidates received jobs at different industrial units of the state.

Una SDM Prithi Pal Singh, while inaugurating the job fair, said a number of welfare schemes had been initiated for the socio-economic upliftment of the differently abled persons. He said the youth should access government websites for information on schemes.

He said the district administration had spent Rs 8.5 lakh on setting up a canteen at the secretariat. The canteen will be run and managed by differently bled persons trained for the job.

Deputy Director of National Career Service Center Dr BK Pandey said that 145 candidates had registered for the fair in which 19 industrial units of the state participated. He said that 94 candidates appeared for screening interview, of which 45 were shortlisted. The center was set up in 2016 and has provided jobs or self employment avenue to more than 1,600 differently abled persons.

The Rotary Club (Greater) and Gurudwara Shaheed Singh donated sewing machines to two beneficiaries, while Universal Welding Services, Bharwain, donated a welding tool kit to a beneficiary.
