Five people, including a newlywed couple, were on Saturday killed and nine others injured in separate accidents in Shimla and Kinnaur districts, police said.

Three people were killed and five injured when the camper in which they were travelling in rolled 150 feet down into a gorge on Ponda-Bari road near Bhawanagar in Kinnaur district, about 210 km from here, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Surendra Singh (45), Mangat Ram (55) and Shakrua (32) of Bari village. The injured were rushed to a hospital at Khaneri near Rampur and one of them is in a critical condition, police said.

In another accident here, a newlywed couple, Salim (32) and Fatima (24) of Muzaffarnagar, were killed on the spot and four others, including a child, were seriously injured when the car they were travelling in rolled into a deep gorge near Sarahan on Shimla-Nahan road on Saturday morning.

The accident took place as the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve, an injured person said.
