Aadhaar, ration cards given to Kullu fire victims

KULLU: The district administration today organised “Prashasan Janta Ke Dwar”, a programme to provide government services to those whose houses were burnt at Gahar village in Naggar.

The district administration today organised “Prashasan Janta Ke Dwar”, a programme to provide government services to those whose houses were burnt at Gahar village in Naggar. Eight houses were gutted and one partially burnt, rendering 22 families homeless in Gahar village on Friday.

Kullu SDM Rohit Rathore said ration cards, Aadhaar cards, revenue certificates, bona fide certificates, voter IDs and other important documents were given to the fire victims on the spot.

The SDM said an amount of Rs 16 lakh had been disbursed as relief. Officials of the Forest Department assured to provide wood for the reconstruction of houses. He added that priority would be given to the fire victims under the housing scheme by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department. He added that officials of the Agriculture Department would provide equipment at subsidised rates to the affected people. He said new electricity meters would be provided and fodder for the livestock would be given.

The SDM said that officials of the IPH department also assured the villagers that new pipes would be installed and water connections with meters would be provided to each household in the village. IPH officials also stated that a water tank having capacity of 10,000 litres would be constructed in the village soon.

The SDM stated that a local committee had been constituted in the village to collect monetary assistance to the fire victims. He said that donors could directly approach the panchayat president to provide financial assistance to the persons affected due to fire. He said that many NGOs and other organisations had come forward to help the aggrieved persons. He added that victims were looking forward for monetary help to reconstruct their houses.
