Joint rural revenue officers and the Kanungo Association have sought an amendment to the departmental recruitment and promotion (R&P) rules for the Naib Tehsildar category to pave the way for the promotion quota of the kanungos.

Expressing concern over the delay in the payment of dearness allowance arrears, the association president, Daljeet Singh, said here on Friday that the revenue officials of Salooni tehsil in Chamba district had not been paid arrears for the past two years.

He pleaded that‘revenue sadans’ be constructed in all district headquarters so that the kanungos and patwaris working in the interior parts could stay in these sadans, when on official duty. Otherwise, their stay in private hotels was costing them dear.

In addition to this, Daljeet Singh also urged the state government to accede to other long-pending demands of the association at the earliest.
