Una, December 11

The district Election Department has claimed to have made elaborate arrangements for the counting of votes to all five Assembly segments, which will take place on December 18 at two separate venues simultaneously.

Votes for the election of candidate for the Una, Kutlehar and Haroli segments will be held at Government College, Una, while the counting of votes for the Gagret and Chintpurni segments will be held at Government College, Amb.

Reviewing the arrangements, Deputy Commissioner-cum-district electoral officer Vikas Labroo said the counting would start at 8 am, adding that postal ballots would be counted first, followed by counting of votes recorded in EVM machines. He said public address systems would be installed at the Indira Gandhi Stadium adjacent to Government College, Una, and in the premises of the SDM office in Amb to inform the people about the results of each round of counting.

The Election Department will set up media centres near both the counting venues, which will be equipped with communication equipment, including telephones, computers, internet, fax and television. Authorised mediapersons hill be allowed access to the media and counting centres, but will not be allowed to carry their cellphones inside the counting centre.
