Mandi, December 11
Worried about their livelihood, 32 shopkeepers of Keshav Madahev Market at Aut have demanded rehabilitation under Land Acquisition Act 2013 after National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) issued notices to them to vacate the market premises.
The NHAI has maintained that the market was set up on encroached land, which was constructed by the district administration in year 1992 to provide livelihood to the locals and the authorities were charging revenue for it since then.
A meeting was held yesterday to discuss the issue under the leadership of Brigadier Khushal Thakur (Retd), chairperson of Fourlane Sangharsh Samiti. It was decided that the samiti will take up the matter with district administration and state government to rehabilitate the affected people under Land Acquisition act.
Khushal Thakur said that the shopkeepers were asked to vacate the property till December 22 which will affect their livelihood. It is the right of affected people to get compensation and rehabilitation under the Land Acquisition Act and authorities concerned should follow the norm.
