Baddi unit bags FICCI CSR award

The Baddi-based Elin Appliances has bagged the FICCI CSR award for the 2016-2017 in the Small and Medium Enterprises category.

Inspired by the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) it aims at creating a clean India and Green India. The CSR unit has inspired the school children to plant trees in their surroundings and school premises.

The award was bestowed by PP Choudhary, Minister of state for Corporate Affairs, Law and Justice.

Factory Manager, JS Kang said a project Kiran was launched aimed at creating a healthy atmosphere and clean environment for better schooling for the children. Water purifiers and water coolers were installed in four government schools in the Baddi industrial area.

The most interesting case pertains to the Government Primary School, Belikhol which was the only school in the forest area within a radius of 10 km.

In view if inadequate number of children the government was proposing to close this school but since March 2017 the enrollment saw a huge leap due to availability of basic facilities such as safe drinking water, toilets and newly constructed classroom and boundary wall. The unit management invested Rs 68.23 lakh on these initiatives.

A similar story was repeated in Government Primary School, Kishenpura where a sum of Rs 6,26,659 was invested for putting in place such facilities.

The company officials also undertook impact assessment of their initiatives in which the beneficiaries were surveyed to comprehend the difference in their lives before and after the development of the facilities.
