Dharamsala, January 31

BJP leaders, including former minister and MLA from Shahpur Sarween Chaudhary, ex-minister Kishan Kapoor and ex-MLA Sanjay Chaudhary today held a protest in Dharamsala today.

They were protesting the thrashing of party workers at their party head office in Shimla allegedly by a group of Youth Congress workers.

BJP leaders initially gathered at the depot bazaar office of the party and then marched towards the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, raising slogans against the Congress government and carrying placards.

Kishan Kapoor said law and order machinery had collapsed in the state.

“An open attack on the head of the BJP in Shimla was a clear illustration of the fact,” he said, adding: “The involvement of Chief Minister’s son, Vikramaditya, in the attack made the crime grave,” he said. Sarween said the government should take action against the guilty. The BJP would seek the Governor’s intervention, she said. The BJP leaders later submitted a memorandum of their demands to the Kangra DC.

Clash averted between CPM and BJP workers

The rallies of CPM workers and BJP workers passed across each other near the Kachehri crossing. A clash was averted between the activists of the two parties.

CPM workers were carrying out slogans against the NDA government at the Centre for diluting the Land Acquisition Bill brought by the previous BJP government. The BJP workers started raising slogans against the Congress. The clash was averted as CPM workers did not react to the provocation from BJP works and proceeded towards the DC office.
