BJP observes bandh in Dharamsala

DHARAMSALA: The BJP today observed a shutdown, organised dharnas and burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to protest against the Kotkhai rape and murder case, in Dharamsala.

The BJP today observed a shutdown, organised dharnas and burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to protest against the Kotkhai rape and murder case, in Dharamsala. Congress workers also organised a symbolic protest by staying mute for some time. The bandh call was given by the BJP till 12 pm. Most of the commercial establishments remained closed.

Protests were also held by the BJP in other parts of the district, including Kangra, Palampur, Nurpur and Dehra.

BJP workers led by former ministers Kishan Kapoor and Sarween Chaudhary and HPCA spokesperson Sanjay Sharma gathered at the main Kacheri crossing in Dharamsala and raised slogans against the state government.

ABVP activists also carried out a separate protest. The activists tried to burn the effigy of the CM, but were stopped by the police officials. There was a minor scuffle between the ABVP activists and the police over this.
