Chamba, June 19

The All India Senior Citizens’ Forum has urged the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to include the widening of Pathankot-Killar National Highway in the Bharatmala Pariyojna.

Forum spokesperson Prakash Chand urged the Central Government to extend the NH to Leh via Sural Bhatori and Shankar Jot through hilly terrains.

He also urged the construction of tunnels under Jot Pass from Chowari to Chamba and snow-capped Saach Pass linking the difficult and far-flung Pangi valley on the Draman-Chamba-Pangi National Highway.

He said if these tunnels were constructed on priority, it would help providing all-weather connectivity to the entire district of Chamba and the road linkage would prove a major driver for the economic growth of the far-flung areas of Chamba.
