The cases of left-out Bhakra Dam oustees will be settled soon, said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at Jhandutta in Bilaspur district today. The cases pertain to allotment of land/plot which had not been settled even after more than 50 years.

“The Bhakra oustees, who were rendered homeless, had been provided land/ plots. However, the cases regarding settlement of left-out oustees at Kotdhar, embroiled in protracted litigation for titles, have been taken up again with the Centre and are likely to be settled soon under the mini settlement,” he said while addressing a public meeting.

Asserting that the government was keen on providing employment to the youth, the Chief Minister said during the past three years over 27,000 people were given employment in the government sector alone.

Referring to medical education, the Chief Minister said two government medical colleges were fully functional, Nahan Medical College would start admissions to the first batch of MBBS from 2016-17 while Hamirpur, Chamba and ESIC colleges at Ner Chowk in Mandi would also become functional soon, raising the total number of MBBS seats to 600. Besides, an AIIMS was coming in Bilaspur. This would strengthen the health sector in the state.

Cautioning the people against the nefarious designs of divisive forces, the Chief Minister asked the people to stay united and work for development and prosperity of the state.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Gherwin, additional block of Government Degree College at Jhanduta and also dedicated the Community Health Centre at Jhandutta to the people. He announced that a tehsil welfare office would be opened.

He also planted a sapling on the occasion of the 67th state level Van Mahotsav at Samoh near Gherwin and announced to construct Babkhal and Bairi-Darollon bridges to connect Bilaspur with Rishikesh.

The Chief Minister promised a science block for degree college at Jhandutta and directed the authorities to construct the same within a year. He said the office of SDM would soon start functioning from Jhandutta and a bus stand and PWD Rest House would also be constructed there.
