Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today reiterated that the Kangra Central University would be set up in Dharamsala only as it was centrally located.

The decision to locate the main campus of Central University at Dharamsala or its vicinity was taken keeping in view the demand of the people but the BJP leaders were opposing the decision at the behest of party MP, Anurag Thakur, who is pressing for opening the University at Dehra, which was at one end of the district, he said during informal chat with media persons here today.

The Chief Minister said that all the necessary facilities and basic infrastructure needed for a university was available at Dharamsala.

Singh said that the MLAs have given valuable suggestions during the meeting for ascertaining the plan priorities adding that some senior BJP MLAs and some Congress MLAs also did not attend the meetings but they have sent their priorities which would be accommodated.

Meanwhile, the state Cabinet would be meeting at Shimla on February 12. The Chief Minister will also preside over the meetings of “other backward classes welfare board”, Gaddi Welfare Board, Vishwakarma Welfare Board,Valmiki Welfare Board, Women welfare board, Disabled people Welfare Board, Labana Welfare Board, Kohli Welfare Board, Sant Ravidass Welfare Board , Rajput Welfare Bioard and Minorities Welfare Board at Shimla.

The Cabinet is likely to take a decision on restoring the policy of batch-wise recruitment of doctors which was discontinues in the past.
