Centre not contributing much to Swan project

The state government has been spending from its own coffers on the Swan channelization project. The union government had sanctioned the phase two of Rs 922 scrore Swan Channelization project under 70:30 scheme in which the Centre was to contribute 70 per cent while the state government had to contribute 30 per cent.

However, till date Rs 335 crores has been spent on the Swan Channelization project out which the union government has contributed 113 crores while the state government has spent Rs 221 crores. This information was tabled in the House today on question raised by Congress MLA from Chintpurni, Kuldeep Kumar.

Bikram Singh Jarial, BJP MLA from Bhatiyat, objected to the failure of the government to reply to his query regarding information sought on government employees posted in their home areas. Jarial said that he had been posing the said query in the House for the past three sessions. However, the government was not providing the information.

The Speaker asked the Chief Minister to reply as to why information was not been provided. The CM said that since the information was being collected from various departments it was being delayed.

While replying to a query from BJP MLA from Shimla, Suresh Bharadwaj the government informed that 1,177 permits have been issued for sealed and restricted roads in Shimla. Out of these, 575 have been issued by the Home Department, 49 by Vidhan Sabha and 553 by Deputy Commissioner, Shimla.

In a reply to a question from BJP MLA ID Dhiman the government informed that in Hamirpur district 63 theft, one case of rape, one case of murder and 30 cases of missing people have been registered.

In response to a query from BJP MLA Rikhi Ram Koundal the minister for transport informed that the HPRTC has purchased 10 Volvo buses at a cost of Rs 93.8 lakh.

The minister also informed the House that seats of Volvo buses have been reduced from 41 to 39 as per the new bus body code prescribed keeping in view safety standards.

In response to a query from Kuldeep Kumar, Congress MLA from Chintpurni informed that 823 hydel power projects were sanctioned out of which 132 projects with capacity of 10,264 MW have been established. As many as 71 projects with capacity of 721 MW are under construction and 620 projects with capacity of 8,274 MW are in various stages of permissions.

Responding to the query from BJP MLA Mohinder Singh Minister for Industries Mukesh Agnihotri informed that in the last three years 1,924 new industrial projects with an investment of Rs 3,177 crores have been set up in the state. In the last three year two industrial units have shifted out of state and 67 have closed down.

As many as 282 companies were given 3,30,862 sq m land and 174 companies have been given permission to buy land under section 118 of the Land Tenancy Act.

Responding to a query from Mohan Lal Bragta, MLA Rohru, the minister of forest informed that 15,636 cases had been approved under Timber Distribution Rights while 6,481 cases were pending. In Rohru assembly constituency 798 cases were accepted. All the trees that have been given to individuals under the Tiber Distribution Rights were either Deodar or Kayal trees.

In response to a query from Gobind Singh Thakur, MLA Manali, the government informed that congestion tax was being charged at Gulaba barrier on road to Rohtang. In the last one year Rs 1,55,03077 has been collected. The amount has not been spent anywhere. It shall be spent as per the directions of Green Tribunal.
