Kullu, July 6

A trekker from Chandigarh has gone missing on the way back from Shrikhand in Anni subdivision of the district.

Four boys had reportedly gone for trekking on July 1. They informed the police upon reaching Thachdu yesterday that their friend and one of the trekkers had gone missing.

The official Shrikhand Yatra is scheduled to commence on July 15, however, some enthusiasts undertake the difficult trek on their own.

Anni DSP Baldev Thakur said Abhishek Kharwanda (23) and Virender Singh Rawat, both from Chandigarh, and Rahul and Sachin, from Solan, had gone for trekking and reached Shrikhand Mahadev peak on July 3.

The DSP said when the boys returned, they informed the police that Abhishek had gone missing and could not be traced. There was no mobile signal in the remote area. The DSP said rescue teams had been dispatched to the trekking route today to trace the missing trekker.
