Check crime against women: Minister

SHIMLA: Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has asked the state government to take necessary steps to tackle sexual offences against women and children.

Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has asked the state government to take necessary steps to tackle sexual offences against women and children. In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Gandhi said the police should be imparted training, especially in collecting evidence.

"Strignent action should be taken against officials who deliberately delay the cases. A special cell could be set up to deal with such offences," she added.
