Shimla, June 20

With reference to the news item, “Deputy Mayor’s post: Cong, BJP face tough task” published in these columns on June 20, it is clarified that Satya Kaundal, who won as a councillor from Sanjauli Chowk, does not belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category as mentioned in the news report.

She hails from a reputed Rajput family and is married in a Rajput family of Bilaspur. It was inadvertently mentioned that she is a contender for the post of Mayor of Shimla MC which was reserved for a SC woman. However, being a Rajput she was not eligible for the post. The error is regretted.
