As many as 200 students of Him Academy Public School (HAPS) rushed to Sarad Bammi village near Kaloha in Kangra district on the boundary of Hamirpur and Kangra districts to rescue village residents as there was a cloud burst that led to a large-scale destruction of houses and other property.
The students of HAPS helped the villagers by clearing their houses which were damaged. The villagers were grateful that the students and the school management helped them during the natural calamity. Volunteers of the NSS wing of the school helped people clear debris and bring out their buried belongings.
Chander Prabha Lakhanpal, Principal of the school, said the students were taught community service in the school and she was satisfied with their performance.
Malok Singh, Subdivisional Magistrate, Dehra, said the initiative of the school was unmatched and the way students worked in that particular situation was commendable.
