Dharamsala, January 24

Amid attack by the BJP leaders and the Opposition from within the party Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said he would use his good relations with Central leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to make sure that consolidated campus of Central University Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) campus comes up at Jadrangal in Dharamsala Assembly constituency.

The Chief Minister, who was on a tour to Rehan area of Kangra district, today said that he had cordial relations with Central leaders, irrespective of party affiliations. “I have respect and regards for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I shall use these relations for the betterment of Himachal Pradesh,” he said.

He said that Rs 100 crore Siddhata irrigation project, Rs 204 crore Phinna Singh irrigation project and Rs 387 crore Shah canal projects in Kangra dstrict were in the final stages of completion. Every field will be provided irrigational facilities, he said.

“The government is committed to strengthen power network even in the remotest areas so that the inhabitants have uninterrupted power supply,” the Chief Minister said.

Today, there were 94 degree colleges in the state. During the last three years of the present government regime 994 new schools and 25 degree colleges had been opened. Besides, 21 new Industrial Training Institutes had been opened to provide vocational education to the youth, he said.

The Chief Minister announced opening of a Primary Health Centre at Raja-Ka-Talab, besides announcing upgrade of Middle school Larth and Middle school Guriyal to high schools.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated a bridge on Beas River completed at a cost of Rs 7.80 crore connecting Riyali with Bhadukhar.

Agriculture Minister, Sujan Singh Pathania, honoured and welcomed the Chief Minister to his assembly segment. Pathania said that it was a mistake on the part of the BJP leaders to ensure CBI raids on the residence of the Chief Minister, thinking that it will demoralise and defame the Virbhadra Singh. The move however, boomeranged on them as the entire Congress of the country stood behind the tallest leader of the country, he said.

Chairman, Other Backward Commission, Chander Kumar, credited the development of the area to Virbhadra Singh and said that he was focusing on development rather than criticising the opponents. Chander said it was due to the efforts of the Chief Minister that subsidised ration having three pulses and edible oil was being provided to the people of the state. He flayed the NDA government for failing to control the rising price of pulses and other commodities. The NDA government betrayed the people of the country by promising them of ‘achche din’. He also criticised the NDA for security lapses resulting in Pathankot and Dinanagar attacks and said that there was growing intolerance amongst the people of the country.

MLA, Ajay Mahajan, flayed the opposition leaders for raids on the residence of Chief Minister in connivance with Central leaders on the day of the marriage of his daughter. It was a shameful act, he said.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Neeraj Bharti and ex-MLA, Bodh Raj were also present on the occasion.
